LEER MÁSJ. Alex Kaczmarski is a seasoned financial executive who has focused on the real estate sector for over 30 years across the United States, Mexico, the United Kingdom, and India. He has worked for and with investors/fund sponsors, local operating partners, developers, and asset and property managers to find solutions to complex accounting, tax, and financial reporting situations across nearly all real estate asset types and investing structures. He is adept at quickly evaluating financial teams, technology, and processes and implementing change as needed.
Prior to joining J.S. Held, Alex worked as Controller, Chief Accounting Officer, Chief Compliance Officer, and Chief Financial Officer of several registered investment advisors and property management and development firms. In these roles, Alex was also responsible for risk management (corporate and asset level), human resource efforts, securities compliance, and investor relations/fundraising. He has participated in nearly 200 commercial real estate transactions and helped raise/close over $3B in equity commitments.
Alex started his career in public accounting, first with Kenneth Leventhal & Co (later EY) and then with Deloitte, where he earned a unique mix of experience, not only in audit and tax but also in IPOs, litigation support, system conversions, and implementations, and asset management.
Alex is a Director within the Strategic Advisory practice at J.S. Held. He provides outsourced Controller, Chief Accounting Officer (CAO), and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) services, and his expertise includes financial planning, analysis, and forensic accounting services.
Alex holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from the University of Texas at Austin.
