Marijan "Mario" Smolej is a consulting professional engineer specializing in collision reconstruction and human factors. Since 1985, Mario has investigated, analyzed, and provided technical direction in over 1,500 reconstructions. He discusses accident reconstruction; failure analysis; personal injury; and slips, trips, and falls. He is also an expert witness in various forums for the legal and insurance professions, the trucking industry, and the engineering community.
Mario has qualified as an expert in the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, Ontario Criminal Court of Justice, and ADR Chambers for both plaintiffs and defendants in civil litigations and for prosecuting and defending the Highway Traffic Act and criminal matters. He conducts and manages multidisciplinary technical investigations involving collision reconstruction, human factors, suspected fraudulent collisions, and vehicle mechanical fitness. His expertise also includes investigating and analyzing slip, trip, and fall incidents; building code; and lighting assessments.
Mario holds a B.A.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Toronto. His project experience spans Canada and the US.
